From February 9th through the 15th, 2004, the world celebrated V-Day with a week long series of
events presented to raise awareness about violence against women and girls. This year, the focus
of V-Day was the disappearances and murders of hundreds of young women in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico.
After five days of educational conferences and workshops, the week culminated in a Valentine's Day
march from San Jacinto Plaza in El Paso, TX to the Benito Juarez monument in Ciudad Juarez.
The march drew thousands of supporters from both sides of the border.
